The Freelancers Resume

So I've had 4 really good freelance gigs this year (and a couple not so interesting ones). They've lasted between a couple weeks and 2 months.
What's the best way to mention these jobs as my most recent employment on my resume, without looking like a flake who can't hold down a job or just another freelancer (not that there's anything wrong with that)? I'm looking for full time work so I'm not trying come off as that guy.
Advice appreciated!

You mean just another wage slave? Sounds like you should leave them off your resume and just put the term 'freelance' in lieu of description
- Yeah, pretty much. But I don't want to sound like I've been unemployed for the past 7 months!BK

you can list your clients at the top to show you can work for many different avenues and then list the work you did to show your professionalism and your earned client list.

yeah just list the clients you don't put down how long you worked there.

I think it sounds like 'you've been unemployed for 7 months' as opposed to 'waiting for the right opportunity'.
Heads of studios would probably rather have a freelancer taking employment by choice as opposed to someone freelance who no one will employ. Forget the employment circumstances and eek out what benefit you brought to the job. I think this day and age it doesn't matter if your freelance or employed. See your freelance time as a benefit and self-liberating - many employers see it is a bonus. I personally don't have much respect for anyone who's never stood on their own 2 feet at one point or another.

So I guess the question would how does one with a lot of freelance experience who is looking for full time work communicate that in a resume?

you do it professionally

This is a good question actually. Anyone have an example of a resume that does this?

Nothing wrong with freelancing. Doesn't mean you can't hold a FT job. It's a lot harder to do successfully than holding a FT job, that's for sure. You should mention them on your resume. What you did. Who you did it for. What you accomplished etc. Get a recommendation from them too.

Personally I just put the name of the company and the year I freelanced there. I may freelance at a shop a couple different times during the year so this just simplifies things a bit.

I agree with mtgentry. I would suggest listing the name of the company, followed by your time of employ or project description, and in parenthesis "(independently contracted)". That way it shows the different industries you've worked for, the projects you did for those industries and the parenthesis acts as a footnote so as to not mislead.
