Get the lenses now and then the body later. I don't know what noise you are talking about but the D80 does handle high ISO better than the D200. Maybe you might want to check your setting. It's all about knowing the limitation of equipments you use.

Do you think that you're experience is growing so much that the limitations of the D80 is pulling you down?
Personally, it doesn't really matter if Hemingway writes on a notebook or uses Pages on a MacBook pro, it's still good writing.

Its not the camera which catches the pics but yr eye then the camera process....its like a computer with no one behind it

What's your lens setup? If your're trying to shoot low-light @ 3.5, ISO 1600, then you need a faster lens, AT LEAST 2.8.
Test the waters of both. Rent a body, I would recommend
I started with a little disposable camera in 5th grade, upgrading to my dad's film SLR (Nikon), then a small digital (Sony), then a D70s, then went Canon for a while (XT, 70-200 2.8L), then the D300. I want to focus on glass and want to get into more medium-format photography with a Hassie or a Mamiya. Probably in college I would feel confident enough to get a flagship model.
For those fanboys, fuck off. Not here. Nikon and Canon are pretty equal nowadays.
