I still don't understand. Unless you are on a velodrome, why would you not want to have a handbrake? I understand the one gear thing but no brakes is just stupid, no matter how much control you think you have.

i love the look of a single gear bike and i have my sights set on one very soon, but i am going to free wheel it and add a rear brake, im old enough and don't have enough insurance to enjoy a look without some safety, plus SF and Oakland can be fucking crazy places to ride in.

i ride sinlespeed in sf and i added a brake. even if i rlip the rear wheel to fixed i'd still use it
- yeah, i have just witnessed to many idiots do stupid shit in cars/trucks/etc... and that far exceeds my pure excitement for pain.refunktion

Seriously. Maybe even get two brakes. I slammed into an old lady in a honda the other day and even though I probably scared her more than myself, I was jamming down on that front brake super hard.

Fixed gear bikes are the most ugly fucking things I've ever seen. I really don't get it.
