Teenagers are pretty obnoxious. I would know, haha. That being said, it's difficult to comprehend the level of excitement and unrestraint they may have after being extremely controlled for the actual competition part. Most athletes would feel that way, whether or not you see it on-screen. That's probably the difference between various countries. Some of them will mug while others will be more humble. Mugging will result in more viewers being annoyed.

I think the closest we've got to getting a medal is the female weightlifter. Can't wait to see the Canadian team swim in about 30 minutes. They have a good chance to get a medal.

I can't stand the commentators ... again. The douche on the swimming pisses me off immensely, and the guy on the woman's gymnastics pisses me off more somehow.
The latter does nothing to acknowledge basically anything that isn't perfect and just yells out shit no one cares about. Look we get it, you were a gymnast. Congratulations, haha.
Also, Shawn Johnson looks pretty young - granted not as young as the Chinese Team, but still ... get the fuck over it. They have papers, that's been that.

Also, to the daft cunt complaining about how the US relay team won earlier in the 400 by like ... what 1 - 1,000th of a second and showed emotion from coming from behind...
How'd you like when they fucking bbqpwned everyone by 8 seconds and showed yet again the appropriate emotion given the circumstances.
I was glad to see Rice win in the 200IM, despite wanting Coughlin to win real bad but not really expecting her to have a chance.

I was glad Australia and South Africa won for that. The U.S.A. is great, obviously, which is why I want to see a variety of countries winning.
Disappointing things from yesterday / today:
- Brent Hayden not making it past the semi-finals for swimming last night.
- Sherraine Schalm was defeated by a Hungarian this morning. Best chance we had at a fencing medal.People are already complaining about how our athletes aren't winning medals at the Summer Olympics. Really though, people would be complaining even if the government DID give millions of dollars to athletes and programs for them (like other countries do) since that money "could" be used somewhere else.

"Sherraine Schalm, Canada's best hope for an Olympic fencing medal, has been knocked out of competition in Beijing in a defeat Wednesday that triggered some angry words and emotions from the Brooks, Alta., native.
Schalm was seeded fifth in Beijing, six spots higher than her opponent, but was defeated 15-13 by Hungarian Ildiko Mincza-Nebald in the epee round of 16.
Schalm was devastated by the loss, especially since she was defeated by a Hungarian. She had trained with the Hungarian national team for four years, but shortly before her final Olympic camp, she was told by her coach that she was no longer welcome to train with them.
"It's like I imagine being a man. It's like being kicked in the nuts repeatedly, that's how bad it feels. You feel like you want to curl up and die," Schalm, competing in her third Olympics, said after the loss.
"I'm trying to put it all in perspective. Immediately, it's not so easy. It's just really tough. You train so long and I feel like I disappointed myself, my coach, my family, my country, everybody.
"I wish none of you ever have to go through this feeling of loss and feeling of disappointment, and the only thing that I can say is it's definitely not going to kill me, so it will have to make me stronger."
Schalm led the entire bout before Mincza-Nebald, the fourth-place finisher at the 2004 Athens Olympics, took control in the final three points and sealed victory. The contest lasted a little more than seven minutes.
Schalm is one of the best female epee fencers in the world. She won a bronze medal at the 2005 world championships and the overall World Cup title in 2006. She has also beaten Romanian Branza, who is ranked No. 2 in the world, three spots higher than Schalm."

Phelps.

Breakfast
Phelps kick starts his day and his metabolism with three fried-egg sandwiches, but with a few customised additions: cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, fried onions and, of course, mayonnaise.
Amuse-bouche out of the way, he throws back two cups of coffee and sits down to an omelette - containing five eggs - and a bowl of grits, a porridge of coarsely ground corn. He's not finished yet. Bring on the three slices of French toast, with powdered sugar on top to make sure there's no skimping on the calories. And to finish: three chocolate chip pancakes.
Lunch
With breakfast wearing off and the hunger pangs biting, Phelps downs half a kilogram - ie a whole packet - of enriched pasta and two large ham and cheese sandwiches. On white bread with loads of mayo on top. To remove any chance that his body will run out of fuel, he washes this down with about 1,000 calories of energy drink.
Dinner
Time to load up on carbs for the next day's training. Another half kilo of enriched pasta goes down the hatch with a chaser of an entire pizza and another 1,000 calories of energy drinks. And so to bed. As Phelps told US television channel NBC yesterday: "Eat, sleep and swim, that's all I can do."
