"The Russian government is in the process of drafting a law to make emo and goth music illegal.
Last month a parliamentary committee was convened to discuss a draft proposal of the Russian government's Government Strategy In The Sphere Of Spiritual And Ethical Education bill, the details of which were leaked to The Moscow Times. The newspaper subsequently reported that, among other things, the draft bill dubbed the musical movements a "dangerous teen trend" and called for emo and goth websites to be regulated and young people dressing like emos or goths to be banned from entering schools and government buildings."

"You cannot enter building comrade, you are obviously goth."
"No way comrade - I am obviously Metalcore, and I'm getting into post metal as well - don't you like Isis? Pelican rock too...and my friend here is a bit of mallcore and he likes some Norwegian folk metal too, but we won't hold that against him, will we?"
"Nyet. And what about your other friend in the back?"
"Ah, he still thinks Slipknot is cool. We don't really talk to him much..."
"So none of you are Emo? Look similar to me. You all shop at Hot Topic in Moscow mall. You leave now."

bummer, if true. but i smell a hoax.
couldn´t find the story on an established news outlet. the original reference seems to be kerrang. i find it somewhat hard to believe that a russian pm cares about pop/subculture.

"According to Dostoevsky, "the most basic, most rudimentary spiritual need of the Russian people is the need for suffering, ever-present and unquenchable, everywhere and in everything"

I visited there 14 years ago. Dostoevsky was right. The whole country is clinically depressed. I would say it's all about the weather but Canadians and Scandinavians prove it otherwise.

The US drafts up a lot laws to make a lot of things illegal. some pass some don't. Eventually most of them will. Were voting away our own rights because of our lack of tolerance and/or common sense.

when will the brutality end?!

haha, well in Britai.., I mean the United Faildom, we have stupid laws passed automatically somehow.
You wake up, turn on the news, and some law that makes frowning at muslims illegal, or something, has suddenly been passed.
Where's the cake.

Russia what a country! No wonder they're quickly taking over the world. They want their men to be men, not a bunch of pussyfied goths and emo fags.
Hopefully they don't ban the scorpions because their strippers would have nothing to dance to.

The country that should ban emo's is mexico. They have such a problem there that Time had to report about it...
- I seriously don't care about the, but if they're inciting stuff like the video below, that warrants action.omgitsacamera

yeah, I heard of what is going on in mexico with emo kids. kids will always defend their style & right to wear and be who they want to be. shit i did, and in no way am i still wearing the same clothes or even listening to the same music. but i do remember getting looked down on because i wasn't exactly what my mom wanted me to be. negative attention will only support them and make them stronger. you would think we would have figured this out already, but look who's having the problem... IMO those punk kids are just being that, punks! lolz it's about time these emos broke out of their mellow dramatic state long enough to stand up for themselves.
*may it be clear that i do not support the violence.

from the end of the article in the Moscow Times
http://www.moscowtimes.ru/articl…"If someone is saying something negative, he probably has no idea what we or our music are about."
haha, dudem, you are in your twenties.
its only teenyboppers who know what you are about and what your music is about. all your friends have proper jobs and dont care a toss about your music.
