My contract with current phone supplier ends in August so id been looking at the iphone.
Pretty decent rates in the UK for unlimited internet use.SO anyway i was quite impressed with what ive seen of it, but THIS application made me WANT one right now!

Comprising of 16 pads you can upload samples to and also contains a sequencer that allows you to save your compositions.
The way I tend to make my music is by sample loops or vst instruments (but most of these are loops rather than lengthly tracks).
This beatmaker thing would be an ideal sketchbook for me to work with.
A lot of the time spent making a song is the way its structured i find. this little beauty would allow me to arse about in any spare time creating new compositions. Its got a few effects on it too. Id bet that more will come soon too!
I reckon you could probably put together a pretty decent live set too (im assuming the sound is 44khz quality).
Imagine turning up to play a gig with just your phone.

Looks cool, I'll check it out 'cause I've got a iPod Touch.
As far as gigging with it is concerned, not sure about that - it's a bit like when DJ's just use a laptop... not so cool.

free would be better instead of 20$

pretty good app for $20! stop being a tightass :PI dunno raniator, could be a novelty being the first person to be gigging with just their iphone hehe. but def not when everyone else started doing it too.

after i saw this app for the iphone i saw the new samsung advert.
its a dj in front of ahuge crowd with loads of touchscreen samsung phones in front of him. he phones different atheletes/sportspersons (its an ad for samsung sponsoring the olympics) and you can 'hear' the rhythms/sounds of the sports they are playing.
This is broadcast out on diff channels by the dj to create a tune.samsung got there first with the playing a gig just with a phone idea

i've seen a few reviews of apps like this (but not this one) and a consistent complaint is the iphones touch screen interaction speed. it sounds like it's just not fast enough yet or the software isn't crunched enough to be allow for the latency of the touch screen.
if you do try it out let us know.

good point moth.
i guess youd set it to not take incoming calls.wonder if the music would still play if a phone call was happening.
you could phone guest vocalists on your tunes and get them to sing along without actually being at the gig.
genius!!

aye i dont think the interaction speed of the touch would be good enough for quick/accurate sample triggers.
although it will automatically quantize so will keep everything in-time.it IS def more of a sketching tool rather than something for live performance
