I like bold agressive colors, so that's what I go for. People will try to talk you out of it and use weak wristed "butter sea shell" or "sun kissed coconut" neutral colors but those colors blow.

if that doesn't work, benjamin moore site has color suggestions for 2008...
ours has dark wood panelling, so we painted it pumpkin orange...
