Yes the new 20" monitor certainly has got a slight gradient from top to bottom, which made me buy a white c2d imac. But comparing the monitors side by side the aluminum one is at least 30% crisper and nicer to look at. I still sent it back though as the gradient and gloss are a no no.

MacPro with 23" x 2 at work.
If you are doing print work professionally, you should really invest in the 24" iMac. Not only for the color problems but, in general, you should buy the best quality tools for your work. Work time will be more pleasant and with the added resolution, you will feel less crowded.
Of course all of this is easy to say unless you simply can't afford the bigger iMac. Good luck.

I swore that I'd never get another all in one iMac again. The monitors are horrible...like stewart's example.
However, the price is tempting.
I got a decent 24" View Sonic monitor and use the iMac monitor as a secondary screen.
I can never decide...now my mac is getting REALLY old...ugh, sigh.
