I haven't done too many of these. How much would you charge for 5 banners (each with different animations) for a medium-sized startup?
- robotron3k0
3-6k per.
- ummm.... what?madirish
- yeah right ~25K for 5 banner ads? you could get them done in less than a week.bulletfactory
- why should a designer rush, unless the client pays a rush charge.robotron3k
- if they are alreayd designed around 1500$ if not.. charge by the hour.. 3-6k per is ridicilous, lobstarr

I'd go $100-200 per banner depending on how complex they need to be.
- cchheeaapklipklap
- 4 hours at $50/hour. What the hell kind of banners do you make?flashbender

5 banners £1000

Some of them might be simple, others would involve a little bit of interactivity.

this is insane- seriously people.
unless you are art directing a specific campaign comprised solely of banner ads (of any medium/format), this is a $35/hr gig of production. not being a dick, but that is how it flies these days..... honest.
- you guys are CHEAP!!! seriously.robotron3k
- i am the last person in the world you would ever consider cheap, should you know me. this however, is the rate pretty accepted.madirish

Is it simply production based on existing concepts?
Or are you to develop 5 separate concepts?
Does each concept get 1-2 versions or comps for each?
What about rounds of revision?
Flash?
How many sizes for each?If you're gonna settle on a flat rate for the entire project, and based on them being a 'small' startup, I would not go lower than 500/banner. Fuck it, it's their advertising, they have startup capital, pay up.
Otherwise, bill them hourly, but I'd push it closer to 50/hour.- solid, solid post here. listen to this man.madirish
- 5 separate concepts, Flash, probably a couple revisionsukit
- Yeah don't lowball that. This will suck up a lot of hours, believe me.
harlequino - Also, don't forget cloning multiple sizes, if they need them. Could be 3 sizes each, could be 20.harlequino
- if that is the case, then yeah, go higher.flashbender
- Also ask to see the blocking chart, who will be setting them up with the vendors?Naygon

10k per. if it's a blue chip company

firstly, banners are a real pain. they are a pain to concept, make and handover.
secondly, the media buy/click through is much more expensive than a design and -- you are at the mercy of where the client buys the placement.
lastly, if you charge more, you get lot's more respect, pure and simple, and you feel good about yourself when you go to bed at night.

^ That's true I hate them. especially having to make mods to animated gif banners. makes me vomit very time.
I think that's why I contract them out most of the time
- On CraigsList NY, you can list that shite and get pHd students from india to do it for $6 per hour...robotron3k
- i'm not kidding...robotron3k
- i believe that ...

i can't wait till the agency i work for stops allowing the client to buy impossible banner ad buys, or banner ad buys at that, and then accepting said shit buy.
i would kill to never see 7 sizes * 9 creative each with a week long timeline.
