Did the UK games organizers decided if they will allow Ireland,Scotland and Walles to have their own foot ball teams for the London olympics?
It is completely unfair if England gets to field a team, and not the others.
Was a UK combined team considered?
- kelpie0
the other associations fear a combined team as a gateway to dissolution of their separate association status, which FIFA have had their eyes on chopping for some time now and a good few other nations are a bit sniffy about. No combined UK team please. and who the fuck gives a monkeys about olympic footy anyway??

well, they won't let the 4 associations play separately as there will be a UK team for everything else and that would be the IOC's decision anyway, not FIFA's, plus the associations would have to agree to release their players into a combined team, no one else can make them do that, and they wont do that.
- Hold on - aren't Olympics participants amateurs? Would FIFA even be involved?

never going to happen.

besides, football is a proper sport, not something that should be played at the olympics.
- jamble0
There will probably never be a "Team GB".
There's no real support for it. None of the associations really like the idea and I doubt most fans want it either.

If proper football was at the olympics no one would give a toss about the rest of it.
Might as well rename it the "World Cup" or something.
- lowimpakt0
not to be picky but England only continues to exert some control over Northern Ireland.
Ireland has it's own shite football team to deal with.

arent Scotland and Walles going to host euro2020 or something?
- Fariska0
TeamUK = fail x 4
- Fariska0
and at the olympics usually plays the under 21 national team.
- SoulFly0
under 21 is correct, but it is allowed a couple of older guys in the team, as a mentor. Brazil is going to use Ronaldinho for the mentor sport.
So for UK that would mean 5 Englishman, 5 Irishman, 5 Scotsman, 5 Welsh, plus Beckham.
