QBN killed the Rockstar designer

One of my clients emailed me in response to a project I'd completed, "Thanks for being such a rockstar at this."
I rolled my eyes, of course.
Thankfully, it was an honest 'thank you' rather than a passive aggressive attempt at getting me to work harder/faster/cheaper/etc.

It rolls off an HR-staffer's tongue better than "competent and qualified designer."
Buzzwords are cool, and will get you hired. Didn't you know that?

I think it's a useful phrase. let's you know who to avoid:
• Never hire someone who calls themself a 'rockstar' designer
• Never work for an agency that is looking for a 'rockstar' designer

Rockstars are arrogant pricks. Who would want to hire one?

Although it should be said that the guy who designed this version of QBN (Patrick Riley) is in fact, a rockstar and a designer.

I was once a rockstar designer. It didn't pay off. I recommend being a normal design in an agency.

Rockstar Designer as a term is okay if someone else is saying it in refernece to great work. It's an adjective... just like you could say Rockstar Developer.
However a Designer can't cal themself a rockstar, that's bad taste.
