So I am going with the family next summer for about ~3 weeks, and we're starting to plan now before prices go up.
Germany (Frankfurt and the western area along the Rhine) are definitely confirmed, but I have two options. These aren't really solid as of writing.
Option A: Milan, Mont Blanc, Marseille, Paris...etc.
Option B: Berlin, Eastern Germany, Prague...etc.
Mother wants to do both options (shopping), but since we're planning to take the train everywhere, it's like going back and forth. I'm trying to convince the parentals to go to England for a couple of days. What do you think? Any other places that are worth going to?

if you go to france, visit st tropez or cannes instead of marseille.

You could come stay at my villa in Portugal, Gregor.

seriously, Berlin.
This is the 6th time i have come back to this city, and it always amazes me how deep the culture goes. As for shopping, it depends on the kind you are after, but as long as you arent looking for plastic fantastic mainstream culture, Berlin will definitely do it for you.I have just moved back here for 9 months and already i am dreading the day i have to leave
