Not a fan of the orange. The soft glow around some of the trees doesn't sit well with me either, unless it was a pure infrared exposure.
- Is there a theme to this though? I might appreciate it more if there was a set of images with this filter.ismith
- Not so much the HDR, but alot of orange. There's two up on my blog.omgitsacamera

Man, that neighborhood looks like it was completely irradiated with some heavy duty toxic shit.
I'd stay inside if things looked like that. Maybe cover myself in foil.

if somebody crept up behind you and wrapped your head in an orange balloon in an attempt to kill you, the view would look like that.

I recommend checking out Dynamic Photo HDR. I have been using it instead of Photomatix for sometime now. There is much more control and it is much more intuitive to use.
- ill check it out tomm. thanks jaylar!omgitsacamera

Doesn't photoshop do a decent job?
- jaylarson0
Photoshop is okay, but it isn't too rigorous and the interface is quite clunky and limited.

God I love suburbia, this is now my background picture.

IMO, Photomatix does better tone mapping than PS.
- true. the photoshop photomatix plugin is weak too.jaylarson

So the basics of HDR photography are what?
1. Camera on tripod...
2. Take 3 or more shots at different exposure from light to dark
3. Blend shots using capable software? Is that right?
- yep. try to compose right, and use HDR in areas where you wish to get more detail from the shadows & highlightsjaylarson
- basically.omgitsacamera
- it could bring out the extra sexy in yr chargers....jaylarson
- titties and charger - now thats a comboBannedKappa
- most cameras have exposure bracketing, does the different exposed shots for youstupidresponse

People have their own opinions on HDR's, some saying that they are a nuisance to look at sometimes, but I like the effect it gives.
- stupidresponse0
it's possible to use it subtle ways, some people tend to go overboard.

i cant stand when the sky goes greay and the colours blow out in HDR. i like it used subtly though. like old mate up the top of this thread... cant be bothered scrolling!

I agree with the comment above.
REALLY subtile HDR can look really good.. but VERY FEW people know how to do it right, most (in my opinion at least) end up with images that just look like its the first time changing contrast/ sharpness on an image.
