There are all loads of ppl taking photos and manipulating pics too death...be careful with that and after all spending over 2K for a wedding photographer is rather sick.....my rates go up to £900 and i think thats plenty to cover my cost and make cash...so sometimes the rate they charged isnt proportional to the work you get....It is alla bout the money....for me the Client is first and i dont see them as a wallet but as ppl having a great day and want something to remember that day for ever. Thats that. Enjoy

When I got married last year (to another photographer/designer) we had to search to find somebody who would just shoot the event, and not do all the crappy effects and postproduction. My advice to you (or anyone @ qbn.. cas I know you all can p'shop correctly) is to look at the persons work and try to either take away the filters, or ask to see raw files..
We found monicabroz.com and they were great- 2 shooters, film and digital, b/w and color and we made a Polaroid 'portrait station' so that every guest got a portrait (which turned out to be the best idea!)
Look for good quality images- stay away from heavy post production and effects, and see if the shooter will just give you a cd of raws.. it'll save you a bunch, and you will take way more time making your self look better!
- I managed to get the negs to mine, lucky I did too ;)slappy

Listen to nicnichols... a few of my cousins who've gotten married all hired photographers who were honestly very mediocre and probably spent most of their time in PS over-saturating, over-contrasting, patching every damn shot. Ended up costing way too much for some pretty bad photos. Find a good photographer who will do nothing but take pictures and then give a CD with the originals (RAW if you want to have some flexibility). If their composition is poor or they can't get the exposure settings right a good amount of the time, it's not worth hiring them...
