I know there have been a bunch of threads recently about freelancing but I was hoping to get the advice of some people here in the UK.
What is the availability of work for designers/creative artworkers like here in the UK, especially London and what are the best agencies to try to get registered with?
Any advice would be great, thanks.

What areas are you interested in? Web design, print, identity, exhibition, publishing, all the above?

Im mainly looking for print based work, anything from advertising to brochures, Direct mail and Point-of-Sale. Basically I would be happy doing anything.

There is loads of work around at the moment and has been for the past year.. But it seems some studio's are pegging back spending on freelancers due to the speculation and talk of the credit crunch(i don't know how much to read into this). I talked to my recruitment agent this morning and she said it's all a bit up in the air.

i've definitely found the amount of agency work has dropped off this year compared to last year but the number of smaller, direct clients has increased to near enough compensate for lost agency contracts so it's reasonably balanced but not as busy as last year.
I do think the credit crunch has had an impact this year, companies are much more wary about spending their money but there are still jobs out there for sure.
