During election season the Today Show would have him on bright and early and he was always coughing on phlegm. I'm guess he smoked his fair share of cigarettes (though that's a wide guess on my part).

He was my favorite political media figure. No matter what side you were on, he would ask the question you didn't want to answer. And he wouldn't let you use Washington speak to get away without answering.
Except with President Bush, where he'd call him on the non-answer three times before moving on, but you can't blame Mr. Russert for that.
Anyway, that sucks.
