what's the proper way to house break a 6 lb poodle?

kick it in the nuts everytime it pees in the house.

lock it in the garage with your car engine running

answers will follow when a real dog enters the room.

Our dog was originally trained to use a litter box, then slowly acclimated to pissing and shitting outside.

Yep.. create train them... they'll get it weird in a few weeks, saving you years of clean up hell.

Get the dog on a schedule and only feed them 2 times a day. Once in the morning and once at night. One walk in the morning one walk around 7 o clock. They will get into the routine. Well that is what I did and it worked.

You crate train once they have gotten old enough to start to control the bowels.. they won't pee/poo where they sleep, so when they are in there you're safe..
.. I usually work with a particular door, and teach the dog to go to that door when he/she feels the 'urge'.. but using the same door each time, they'll pick up on door=outside to poo..

crate train. no question. help the dog define it's space, but clearly demonstrating that space within the crate is not 'theirs', but merely an area to help them understand spacial awareness and down-time/rest.
crate training is wonderful for the dog and owner.
