So my girlfriend buys an iphone off of EBAY and the seller skips town and never responds back she's out $300 cause pay-pal only refunds $200. How do I take action?
We have an email (which no one responds) and a telephone # which no one responds is there something I can do or am I going to have to get clever.

eBay can do that for you. You can file an action against the seller or something...

How clever can you get?
- all I need is the names of some family members.SoupCan
- You'll need to buy a bigger clever boat...TheBlueOne

On the plus side, that $200 will pay for the new 3G iPhone.

SoupCan... if you want to keep your sanity for years and years to come... because she will bring it up years and years to come "remember when you made me lose 300$ from ebay blah blah blah" do yourself a favor and send her the money pretending that it was the guy that robbed her

If you paid via PayPal...you should be able to get at least part of the payment back.
Happened to me awhile back on a Numark mixer.....out of the $300 I gave the guy PayPal was only able to get me like $60 back. Anyway good luck.
- I think PayPal has gotten better since then, but they are still nazis imo.designbot

ebay has gone to complete shit. i've been told by a number of people that i shouldn't even try to sell my iBook on it because it's nothing but scammers trying to get you to send it without them paying. I luckily though have had no trouble buying but i don't buy anything from anyone without a shitload of user feedback and a high positive rating.
now i'm stuck with this great iBook that i really need to sell and ebay isn't an option. sorry soupcan.
- i went through that nonsense. Yup, don't even bother.harlequino
- You can, however, simply mail it to me. :Dharlequino

If you can find the guy I suppose you can file a police report maybe? I dunno.
But sorry, she made a couple mistakes that could have been avoided with a little online buying/selling savvy.
Buying a $500 used iPhone seems like a serious waste to begin with. And, with larger amounts like that, this is why there is escrow.
Hope you get a break.
