The horse thing was just a case of filming it over and over until they got that many wins in a row

*Brown picked six people and picked a six horse race. One person picked a winer every race. The other five losers played no ore part in the show. Initially there was about 600 odd people involved in the show, it was narrowed down to one.
Hardly magic or illusions. Just maths and gullable people.
Now pedicting the lottory! Thats freackin magic!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm interested to see how he did the lottery thing this evening. If it was just a split screen camera thing like most people assume I'll be disappointed:

at 5:42 the ball of the far left rises slightly, possible because this is when they fade in the live shot on the left half of the screen, it may have been a still until then.
I took screen shots of before and after that point (5:42) and the ball on the end does appear to rise, here's an animated gif:

I've been looking into this over the last couple of days and think I may have come up with the solution, here goes:
Derren Brown is in fact an alien time traveller that uses advanced cloking technology to trick us into thinking he is human. This will be the big reveal on Channel 4 tonight when Derren will announce that he has been studying the human race and their predictable behaviuoral patterns for the last year and in this time has been reporting back to his superiors on his home planet so that they can plan their attack on Earth. Then in a fantastical display of light and sound, the omnipotent Derren will reveal to the nation his true form and the invasion will begin.
My advice to you all is to very quickly learn how to handle, fire and maintain a weapon. Start stockpiling provisions and protect your fellow man, together we can get through this.
That's just my theory anyway.

this is interesting on the same theory, someone's even made a mocked up example:

If it was guessed before hand he would of used colour balls that relate to the colours... hence he used white ones so they could be swapped, as the colours would not tally otherwise.

...and the camera was probably on a controlled motion control rig, that looped a natural movement so they just had to keep it in sync,
also if you were going to line the balls up for a thing like that you'd make them all at least straight... rather than how they were hastily put in, all facing up as hidden person was putting them in as quickly as possible...
why am I even contemplating all this... its just a magic trick
