I'd say vortex (and most other places in little 5), The Park Tavern at Piedmont Park, and Siam (Thai Food) in Decatur are some of my favorites currently. And if you get a chance check out the Sweetwater Brewery, you get to try everything for $8. Have fun!

Taqueria Del Sol on Howell Mill Rd. (10th st west to Howell Mill, turn right, up a block or so on the left).. I used to live a block from here. Eat the Fried Chicken Taco and the Rotisserie Chicken Enchilada with lemon cream sauce. One of the few things I miss about Atlanta.

R. Thomas is a gem.
Mary Mac's is classic upper middle-class southern food.
Nuevo Laredo is delicious and a great place to drink margaritas.
Las Palmeras is one of my all time favorites. It's kind of hidden within the midtown nighborhood streets.
Fat matt's has amazing BBQ
