Gah, we are all going to need to start becoming self-sufficient. These outbreaks are becoming too common.

Are they really 'that common' or is it because food in general can never be fully trusted as being safe? Sure, huge food farms aren't the best thing in the world, and while I'm not trying to defend them, how many people don't get sick every day from eating tomatoes?

Always buy your tomatoes on vine.

All grocery stores here in CO pulled the tomatoes. Also went to Subway today...and of course, no tomatoes.
If this ever happens with coffee, I may shoot myself.

McDonald's Canada pulled their tomatoes because of this.

Went to a mexican restaraunt yesterday and ordered enchiladas...when I got my order there was tomatoes all over them. Freaked me out so I went up and talked to one of the cooks (who didn't speak much english) and asked her "Are these tomatoes ok?" and she looked at me like I was crazy. So I continued "you know the whole tomato salmonella outbreak" she still gave me the dear in the headlights look. Finally I was like "yeah there is a huge outbreak, and you are the only restaraunt in the state that seems to still be serving tomatoes" She went back and grabbed the manager and when the manager came out, I asked the same question to which her reply was "Yeah we talked to our vendor yesterday and all our tomatoes are safe to eat"
So I ate them....and today I feel fine. Still crazy (and scary) that the cooks had no idea what I was talking about.

So ... seriously? Most restaurants up here won't serve tomatoes now.
I'm in fucking Pennsylvania. Isn't this shit relegated to like the panhandle?

Haha actually yesterday my one friend got a hamburgher(sic) and was putting ketchup on it, and I just went, "So you won't get a fucking tomato on your burgher(sic) but you'll drown it in ketchup you fucking daft cunt."
To which then everyone told me about how tomatoes are now poisonous.
