Well... I live in NYC in Manhattan... I'm a Designer and have worked for Armani Exchange, Hearst Corporation, Meredith... I do design and art because its what I love to do, but the fact is that although many of the people I work with are cool and are just trying to make a living... There are even more of those people that are just into Aesthetics, hanging out at parties, being vane/looking pretty, and living off trust funds, meanwhile everyday lower income families are losing their homes in Harlem, LES, Williamsburg, now Bushwick... Bedstuy to come... Just so Hipsters can take over and be "In the Scene." Or so yuppies can be chic... I see new buildings being put up all over the place for millionaires, and not to judge, I wonder how many people deserve it. (I'm sure many do.) But also, where is there housing left for regular working people in NYC to live in when even the Bronx is being called by some the new BK. Main street doesn't make 100K a year, I can only imagine how to go about raising 100K for a down payment on a decent house, even with my college education. (An opportunity unlikely to be found anyways, not to mention Editorial doesn't pay that well.) And by chance I saw that episode on Hulu, and I knew it was talking about places like us. I was even thinking of moving to Philadelphia, but where would that cycle end. On a different note, I like living here because you never know whats going to happen, yesterday I was walking home after work and saw the second guy that scaled the New York Times building, I mean how many people can claim crazy stuff like that? Only in NYC... (Honestly, I could have it a lot worse, IDK how people can pay their rent here...)

A really good example of what happens can found at the link below. It wouldn't exist without the gentrification currently happening in Bklyn and NYC:
