QBN: Wilt thou offer your advice on counter-offers as i am possibly Deal or No Deal with a possible new venture.Any shady tricks or jedi commands you might know? Corporate upper handshakes or one-liners?

dont do it for less than a the headache it could potentially be.
try to guess what they are going to counter offer you at with you price... so in essence high ball urs so they try to match what ur really trying to get for the project.

I can see where a lot of people wouldn't agree with me, but my take is that accepting a counter offer is a bad idea.
• You quit so they suddenly have money for you to stay? Shouldn't you have already been getting this money?
• You just accepted an offer with another company and you're going to call them back and say, "thanks, but I've changed my mind"?
• There will certainly be some level of a trust loss between you and your current employer.

Always reject the first offer, then jump up and down and punch the air mightily on the second offer.
Then after you've signed, realise all the shit you forgot to ask about was really important and regret everything. Then get drunk, then punch the air again and high-five someone.
If you can do all that while listening to either the shaft soundtrack or journey, you're on to a winner.
