Fucking ridiculous these 9-5 jobs... who do they think they are eh?, our employers?
jeez
- rson0
well we use to have the 10-10:30 rule. Now it kind of fucks up my morning schedule. Because the trains suck around me and they are totally crowed unlike before when i left at 9:30.
- digdre0
designing is no 9to5 job.

digdre > No it is not. Say i work till 3am. very typical. The iron fist tells me i have to be there at 9.
- if you are working until 3am a lot then you are doing it wrong.skt
- i am doing fine. You know how it works. Things need to get done. it is like a once a month think. And 3 is a bit extreme. 11-12 normalrson
- Well I think you should talk to your boss and say if you work till three you get to come in later the next day. Seems fair to me.ian
- bollocks, if it can't be done in office hours it should wait or the project manager needs a kickjamble

Well I think if you're really not happy, and frankly I wouldn't be if I was working till 3am most days, then maybe its time to start looking for a place that doesn't feel like a sweatshop.
I know that if I were working all hours and getting that kind of sleep then I wouldn't be able to string a sentence together, let alone a coherent design solution for a client.
- Sorry it is morning. I do not work a sweatshop. Like normal places we 11-12 ers once a month. Its just the rules that get to merson
- Well I think you should talk to your boss and say if you work till three you get to come in later the next day...ian
- should be a bit of give and take in it, you know? Talk to your boss, its a reasonable request.ian

I like to do 10 till 6 when i full time.
Most companies want to 'normalize' hours though.
Bastards.- When i freelance i usually do 12 till 1am.YAYPaul
- YESSS! I thought that was the unspoken.rson
- that must fuck with your life unduly though, even pro writers get up at 8 and work 9 to 5kelpie
- Well i'm sure it'll change now i'm living with a lady. But when i was single it suited my nocturnal nature :)YAYPaul
- kelpie0
well this is the thing; if your clients all start at 9 and finish at 5 (the lucky bastards) then sure as shit they will be on the phone at five past nine wanting something, makes sense to keep the same hours from that perspective
- yes and no. I will be there till 7 while they are send their changes at 5 that need to be done that sec.rson
- mate I'm frequently in till 10, till 12, and occasionally over night. It sucks but what I posted is the thinking behind it. Time to chat to bossmankelpie
- to your boss about flexibility when you're in super latekelpie

see I like working 7am - 3pm....and I do exactly that most days...
- doesn't that mean getting up at like 4am and being asleep by 10pm?YAYPaul
- That's how my g/f likes to work. I like the night too much for that.YAYPaul
- This isn't bad. I just have to get up earlier :/Jaline
- Get up at 5am...take a nap late afternoon and then do more work from like 9-1am usually..I hate afternoons.TheBlueOne
- I do like leaving work early, even though my co-workers may be weirded out. I used to. Had to get up around 5:30am.Jaline
- Also, I absolutely hate sleeping or napping at any time other than bed time at night.Jaline
- I'm with you on the napping Jaline. My g/f loves to nap. If i nap i'm screwed for the rest of the day.YAYPaul
- YAYPaul0
Actually last place i worked full time the hours were 9 till 5.30. But if you left before 6.30 you used to get weird looks, even on slow days.
I never did understand why they didn't just say '9 till 6'.
bah now i'm rambling. Time to go pack a case.

I do 9:30 am - 5:00 pm most days. Lately I have been leaving at 4:30 pm because my boss has been away, and no one notices me (I rarely speak to any of my co-workers but I can hear everything they talk about with everyone else since my office is next door). I don't have a huge flow of work at the moment though. It comes in bursts. I just organize the work so that it is spread out throughout the week.
- yeah but you are from America jrrson
- I'm a developer. Does that make a difference? :PJaline
- j/k, doesn't quite work like that. There are days where I spend hours working on one piece of code that is not working correctly.Jaline
- errr canada..?Dancer
- yeah, I don't get it either, Dancer.Jaline
- i think he meant america junior...paraselene
