i like 1E. The logo for versions 2 and 3 are too generic to be used by themselves. Version 4 is almost too strong looking for a church. i like how 1E incorporated the icon into the text. That way you could use either (with or without the text) and folks would know what is stands for. Nice job.

even though I like it the most, the twin oaks name with the first logo doesn't seem right unfortunately... as there are 3 bits at the bottom. I know it's supposed to represent the holy trinity but that smells like post-rationalisation to me.

great work, dude. those are all very strong.
#1a is my fave.

did you try something purely typographic and less obvious? Maybe with a lower east side storefront 5% nation type shit?
you know, bringing religion back to the peeps?
- ?neue75_bold
- Several of these can be word-mark only...but I know my audience. They want a symbol.gramme
- burn the tree in front of them?neue75_bold
- lower east side storefront wouldn't fit us, that is if I'm picturing what you're describing.gramme

The idea for #1 is to describe us both literally and creed-wise – the obvious twin thing, but rooted in the trinity, which is the perfect model of community. Community is a big deal in our church these days. I see no post-rationalism there – our church (the twin tree thing) growing out of trinitarian community.

the idea that every church deserves an icon might be the idea of a graphic designer. But we are still talking about a "re-branding" of a religion. As a religious / spiritual follower, why would i want to see a separation between the many religion sects?
- because they are not all delivering the same message.gramme
- BTW I'm not getting into theology/faith discussions today. Just crit. The development of a logo here is a moot point.gramme
- moot point.gramme
- but in terms of the subtitles used under the logo. the idea of religion is a central part of the logo development

unless however, this church is different from all the other Presbyterian churches

all kidding aside, great work and I'm sure very much on brief... As a designer, I very much appreciate it and will leave it at that...

BTW the Presbyterian church at large has a logo, and it sucks. whatsup, that's why I wouldn't want it to look like some "local chapter" of a bigger corporate group. That would feel too...well, corporate, and impersonal I think.

btw- i like the first logo with the tree

my mate was working on this,
http://www.lava.nl/data/portfoli…
they had some other brilliant concepts, not so much for the ID, but for a magazine, unfortunately the client wasn't quite ready to embrace them, a bit too challenging and potentially controversial... I can sympathize with your challenge...
- Nice, I like that a lot.gramme
- we are all trying to get that angle in there_salisae_

I like them, but I think 33 pages or 30 different versions are a little overwhelming, specially for a client, pick the best three or four and present them. You prob know that but just in case.... ;)

beautiful work, gramme!

The good news is that the critique group, at least until the final stage, consists of a good friend (the young adults director) and my realtor (also a good friend).
The bad news is that since this is an official job for my studio, I'm competing against two other colleagues. I'm usually all about the team, but as a church member it seems my advantage is overwhelmingly unfair in terms of how well I know the church. It seems like a waste of my co-workers' time.

1 E
but you´ll need a better solution for the "S" (OAKS)
- gramme0
FYI this is for the initial internal critique here. No way are we showing 30 some odd concepts to the client. Right now I just wanna thicken the stew...I had other ideas that I was going to explore but simply ran out of time.

I like 1A the best. And i like your process, as well. Great work.

I like #28, but i'd love to have the font in 33.
