hello
i need help :-|
this morning i had to re-install my old system software 10.4 as my mac went tits up. now i seem to have lost all my safari bookmarks, my Address Book contacts, and my emails :-(
i have managed to locate the old system and imported "some" of my mail boxes but not my inbox. no idea where this is ??
i have all of my info on my iphone but no idea if i can transfer it onto my mac without syncing it which will wipe the whle lot of course...
can anyone pleeeeeeeeeeaaaaaase help ??

What process did you use to reinstall? If you did an 'Archive & Install' everything will be located in a 'Previous Systems' folder at the root of your drive. Did you back up your home folder? If so you can import your settings from there by dragging them over into your new home folder.

thnx for replying. i have found my Previous Systems' folder but not worked out where my Mail inbox is and my bookmarks/contacts etc

Mail: User folder>Library>Mail
Safari: User folder>Library>Safari
Firefox: User folder>Library>Firefox
Application preferences: User folder>Library>Preferences

Address Book: User folder>Library>Application Support>AddressBook
Calendars: User folder>Library>Calendars

I also suggest to get a .mac account, very useful in this kind of situations. In that way nothing is lost if something bad would happen again.

No problem.
For contacts have a look in
User home>Library>Application Support>AddressBook>MetadataAll your contacts should be in there and you should be able to import them into Address Book (double-clicking worked for me).
