they are not weird,
the geometric forms of the hangul characters are beautiful to the eye.
korean is a rather easy language to learn if you love good design. :)

Professor Ahn gave talks when I was in college and astounded me by his dress sense and humble approach to teaching. I wish there were more folks like him at our universities who don't get by with overly inflated egos.
