I used to love spending the day looking in the second-hand stores in toronto and trying to find bargains, it's like crate-digging for records... Eventually you develop a rapport with the owners and eventually they'll find what you're looking for and you can get great steals.. I think I paid around $800 CDN for my Eames lounge and ottoman [an original with only minor scuffs on the ottoman] but that was after about 6 months of digging...

Panton chairs are one of the best designs of all time, imho.

The reason there are versions that cost $1300 are using a new/special plastic - this is the Vitra version.
The less expensive ones have a lower quality plastic (although the $1000 difference is near impossible to justify, although I do love the glossy look of the expensive one).
$245 for one is a pretty good steal
Oh, and yeah, they make small versions for kids :-)
