You guys are a multitalented bunch, does anyone know if hooking up a guitar delay pedal with my decks will produce nice delays?
I tried it before with a cheap pedal and the quality was awful, but Im hoping that was the pedal.
I'm thinking of getting one of these babies http://www.bosscorp.co.jp/produc…
Let me know watchathink

Try it and let us know.
And if it sounded "awfu" that just means you didn't turn it up enough. Find the unexpected beauty. Destroy your preconceptions. Empty your cup.
That's all the enlightenment I can give you without getting something in return. Keep the karma burning...

Does it have stereo in/stereo out? Because most guitar pedals are mono.

I'd rewatch that scene from "Lost In Translation" before you get too deep into this.
"You know that break beat, right? Well, I been takin' it to some next level shit. Like, I'll take that and put a delay on it, so it's like--
[ Imitating Hip-hop Beat ]
So it's, like, evolving, the beat. So it, like, sounds hella large on the track. You know what I'm sayin'?"

- 20? there was no dd-7 back then. Must have been the dd-3 that as far as I remember was mono. : pVectorMasked

Joking aside, you should be able to do all of this. DJ Spooky's been using the effects with turntables for years now. Using a rack mount unit with a hand control (like a Kaos Pad) will prolly give you more control though. And using something like and Alesis Quadraverb gives you fine tuning control over the fx, way more than a guitar pedal.

I saw a guy do that a few years back that was spinning dub. Really cool stuff.

you MAY need a signal booster or something, i know guitar pedals don't work with bass' very well. guess it would depend on the specific pedal + deck combo.

cheers for the words. Would have replied sooner but the garden needed digging.
Will investigate...

do you have some sort of fx loop in your mixer? patching the output of a turntable straight into a pedal will not work. the output of a turntable is not line level and needs an extra stage of gain, which is what the phono input on the mixer does.
- my mixer has no loop but I know what you mean. It'll go on the dj mixer output, before the rigkushman

the problem with using a pedal is that its made for guitars etc.
if you got something like a kaos pad then you can "tap-in" or synch up the bpms for the echos and effects and it'l sound a lot better

Well I've ordered the RE-20. Found the pdf manual which shows a keyboard on the input so it should work the same for my decks.
Fingers crossed it'll do the trick. Cheers!
