Have a look at the work at
http://www.idea08.ca/
Its an online grad show that at 1st i thought the work was quite interesting until you look at like 10 of the students then you notices its all the same. realy freaked me out to see how smiler all the work is and the gormless brain dead looks they have in the image like there not all there. Plus the whole website idea about them being made from play doh dose not help but create the idea of them being molded from the same stuff.... 26 identical designers to go out into the same city and compete for the same jobs every year?

I particularly like Ryan Romero's face cast & specs.
His name isn't bad either. I may have to borrow it this weekend.

Aye, a lot of the work in there is pretty engaging and original.
The thing that surprises me is the quality of some of the artwork - there's some genuinely really good painting and drawing going on in there - my default prejudice is that artists don't necessarily make great designers and vice versa. Clearly, I am wrong.
If there is any sense of homogeny wrought, it's probably just an artefact of the initial presentation of the candidates through that, frankly quite odd, face cast thing.

I agree with designerror I can't see what the fuss is about! looks fairly different, but if the course was modulated there is a good change they had to respond to 'actual' briefs over various disiplines, packaging, typography etc.

most of the works are fair, but nothing outstanding.
when you look closely, the attention to details are lacking.
check out stuff coming out of Europe and Japan.
much better & more inspiring.

I can't even understand what you're saying

Ok... I just took a look at this and viewed almost everyone of their portfolios. Theirs about 9-12 of them that are top notch designers. A few are not so good but the good logos on there are top notch, I mean top notch. hopefully they keep up their level of work that they have there. I think crazee has lost his mind :) Best of luck to that class I am sure they'll all get good jobs.

I interviewed 3 of the students, great people with great work.
If I had the choice I'd hire all three, best of luck to them!

Capilano has a heavy influence on illustration skills.. i think the style your picking up on is partly a reflection of their instructors technique, i know of other years Cap grads with a similar hand.
Cap always produces top notch grads.

Good point Tim, the IDEA course consists of a mix of designers, illustrators and people whose talents cross both disciplines.

Not a looker in the bunch...
some good work though

I agree with the interesting mix of work. Considering is a grad display site, and comparing it to other schools, it is pretty good.
For example..
