I have an interview at London College of Communication on Monday, for a Foudnation Arts & Design Course with a Visual Communication pathway...
Among the notes I was sent was "Look at the work generated by contemporary artists and designers and be aware of current exhibitions that are taking place."
Forgive my naivety, but I was wondering if anyone could help me with this - I'll be honest and tell you I'd have no idea what to say if they directly asked me something on this topic...

Dear GORADIO
I am the Course Planner for Media at LCC. Unfortunately you are not allowed to ask for external help on this matter - for the reason YOUR FAILED!!
- 'YOUR FAILED!!' ?? wrong use of the word 'you're' -- and for that - you're failed.bulletfactory
- ... you HAVE failed. Can nobody speak English?alexand

Hows about this exhibition?

google 'design exhibition' and 'art exhibition'? Then learn about the designers and artists taking part in those exhibitions.
Also, get a list of all the contemporary galleries you can find and do some research. Find out whos on show in the tate, the design museum etc etc. Buy a couple of art review magazines. This is a pretty easy (and fun) assignment, so enjoy it chief.

Maybe you could talk about the works of a couple relevant designers who actually graduated from LCC, like Neville Brody (research studios) and Nick Bell (design) . In terms of exhibitions, just check out current and upcoming exhibitions in London like V&A, ICA (Not the swedish supermarket chain : ) , whitechapel gallery, the photographers gallery, Tate/Modern etc...
good luck with it : )

Be honest with them, tell them that you have no clue what they are talking about so you didn't bother looking into the subject.
Your call though...

The China Now exhibition at the V&A is a good one and showcases a broad sweep of design from graphics to fashion and film and 3d. It's a clear attempt from HSBC to highlight China's up and coming rise to power and that it wants to be taken seriously in the eyes of the Western world when they're not bullying Tibet and giving Pandas viagra.

I did my foundation at LCC back when it was LCP. It's a great course. Make sure you work hard to get the most out of it.
