WTF - please help

Ok so this is what happened, I created a guest account for my girlfriend, she didn't want any username or password she just wanted to get there and be able to just access the internet. So I told her to use the guest account...so she did. The last couple of days she logged in and she started doing my taxes, she created a excel file, she saved it in the desktop and the file was there during the time she was logged in. She was logged for two days doing that work. Then she logged out and pufff the document was gone!! WTF, i mean I didn't know Leopard was doing this by default (shouldn't this be an option????), deleting all the files and folders from the home's directory of the guest account!! Does anybody knows a way recover that file? I am running data rescue II but I am not sure this will work as the file probably was never saved in the HD in the first place!! Or maybe it was in some TMP file in the system...dunno, any guess?? thanks for your time!!

If you log in to the guest account it should still be there. Presumably you're looking at your desktop not the guest account?

no, this is how it works with all public computers, you log out - it purges the account and all traces

Got it, with DATA RESCUE II I have the file back. My luck is that the file was saved in the HD during the loggin time and not only in RAM. My girlfriend is pregnant she was very sensitive about all this, happy end on this issue!! thanks you guys for your tying!!

I don't really understand why you had to give your gf a guest pass in the first place? why not just let her use your computer on your account?

Or create a new account, not that hard... and you could set that one to autologin?

or use the fast-user-switching, so she can just choose her name in the menu bar, and she's there, without you logging out
and put an alias to a shared folder on the desktop (they are easy to setup now, just go to Get Info window..)

thanks for all your tips in how to create an account in lepoard :D I did not create that account its there by default, I just told her she could use to go in the internet without asking me the password all the time. And I did't even read the regular text there, so I also miss the bold one. And yes I prefer to have my own account, I need my space, my links, my porn all my stuff in a private level I dont mind to share it, but I like my privacy. But hey its good we're all diferent!
