Anyone had any success in getting a workflow utilized in Avid (MC) with RED Cam footage.
I'm told it can be done but I'm having little luck in finding info on setting up an "import / export for Color Grading" system.
Just got Final Cut working after a battery of upgrades and installs. The quality of the full res 4k files looks amazing. QT specs them at 4096 x 2048 - doesn't even fit on 2 monitors when viewing in "normal" size.
We have editors here working on Avid and FCP - thus my curiosity about the Avid workflow. Thanks.

No i almost shot this music video on a Red cam, but hte DP & owner's fees were out of budget. I am blue with curiosity though! Can you post any stills/clips? I want to see some practical field usage and not Red's demo footage already online.
Oh, and to answer your question - I don't know. Only seen FCP in use with 4k footage.
How does your machine render everything? Does it drag?

Red just released a "Log and Transcode" plugin for FCP - its on their site - that brings in all footage from your drive (like P2) but transcodes it to Apple's ProRes HQ format. The tests I've run this morning show source and timeline playback with no rendering needed... which is awesome.
I'm copying all of the first day shoot's footage to my drive now (the prod. co. needs it back for tomorrows shoot). As soon as I get some more stuff to play with I'll post up some stuff for you to check out if I can (be patient with me :) ). The .r3d master files are enormous.
Can't wait to see this footage in a Spectre to be color corrected - Its a music video BTW.
