Nikon and Mamiya here. Nikon D70 and D200. Although I use the D70 more than the D200.

you should've bought the 5D...well worth the extra money.
- 5D mark II out soon. better to wait for that than get an old 5Dforcetwelve
- Does 5DII make the first gen obsolete?rafalski
- The MKII will not make it obsolete — it's the dSLR with the finest picture quality out there.lekke

I have the 40d, it's great, 3" lcd makes a big difference.

big LCDs on the back are a good and all but all these mini SLRs knocking about (40D, D40, D60) don't displays on the top panel for settings, its the most useful display so why get rid of it to save a little bit of space? it makes the cameras pretty useless for anyone that wants to do anything vaguely serious with them.

40D is a great camera, but 5D (and the likes) is the shit. I never understood what all the fullframe hype was until I got it. As a friend of mine puts it: "it's the kind of visual leap you get when moving from 35mm to medium format".
40D is much faster, sure it's better for sports.

I've been looking to buy this baby, love it...Keep us updated in this thread wendog.

You may want something wider to compliment that setup wendog for landscapes and interiors. Considering you have a 24-105 I would go for a Canon 10-22mm.
Be sure to hit us up with some flicks when you get some keepers!
- That will probly be my next choice for lens - gotta pay off the credit for it first hehe********

The Technical Image Press Association (TIPA) has announced to results of the annual camera Oscars. The European awards are coveted by manufacturers, mostly because they get to stick the TIPA logo on the camera box and thereby shift more units.
This year, Nikon scooped the Pro and Expert categories with the D3 and D300 respectively. We know that both are good, and probably the two main reasons that Nikon is gaining ground against its old rival Canon. Canon, though, also managed to win a gong for the best "advanced" DSLR with its EOS 450D, not a bad feat as for a camera that started shipping a few days ago.
Check the link for the full list of winners.

I love my d300

i hate my 350d.
really. i had a sony f717 before wich i loved and even bought a second time after the first one retired after about 5 million shots and now this. clumsy 'mount the giant machine in front of your face, don't shake & look through stupid hole to make a foto' is a stone age business and totally funless. only usefull for product photography that goes to print. always wanted to say that, so here it is.- i totally agree to a certain extent.
717 is funnest camera everovsm

D300 and D3 are both brilliant (have had a play with both), well deserved wins. Pitty swapping camps is so expensive, if only Nikon and Canon had the same mount :)
I am happy rocking my 30D until a new 5D emerges. Some nice cameras going round right now.

I've been seeing a lot of work shot on the 40D recently and I really like the results. Turns out a very clean 16x20 and a decent 20x24. For the price its a very nice camera.
