Really Old School, 2A has been doing the same thing over and over for about 12 years now. Their new site still looks old school.

That is bad old school though. Even back in the day people thought it was bad.

It is funny though, to think that a lot of people thought this site was AMAZING when it came out. It pretty much launched the whole 2Advanced thing

Aesthetically there were some edgier stuff back in the day but web-design is far more functional now and type has gone a long way.

i think the feeling of the net from before was all about the slowness of our inner net connects, this is what made for extra time to look at each site.. nowadays if a site doesnt load fast enough or isnt using the latest ajax or what ever it is that you guys call it, that site today are not visited long enough for any user to explore the user experience that they used to when life was slow with 28.8 modems..
but i agree, the over all feel of the net changed into something less extraordinary.
it needs more cowbell or something!!! maybe needs _________ well you fill in that blank and really make the net fun for us too.
by "us" i mean non web designers.
have fun and make something new and different!!!

I'm still waiting for people to put some concept and strategy behind their design.
Too many designers out there are just looking to create the next 'cool trend' only to denounce it 6 months later.

I remember when practically EVERYTHING became mystery meat navigation. You guys seem to be forgetting that. The whole point was that you could never really find anything you wanted to find. Sure you're lamenting the old mystery and the surprise, but that's like missing the thrill of what it was like in high school getting a handjob in the backseat of the car after you've been married for a few years...fondly remembered but who the hell wants to go back to that really...

I don't know, I got some pretty good handjobs back then...

People simply don't output as much creative work as compared to 10 years ago, period. Anyone who had just really got a computer powerful enough to run the Flash ide, and could upload it and actually get a whiz bang site/concept out there was doing it, but true - many of us doing that then now have kids and mortgages and whilst we might like the idea of spending 10, 20, 30 hours on a piece just for the fun of exploring it, we just don't have the time. We don't have ANY time, noone does - even the kids 10 years younger than us are either growing their hair sideways down their face and playing 'eno' music, whatever the hell they think that is, or writing 3d javascript libraries for fun and profit in their school computer class..
Everyone is far more tense, we all have less money to spend, and it all kinda fucking sucks ass, to be honest. Where's a decent techno night when you need it ? Nowhere.
The party scene used to be a real nucleus of talent, musically and graphically, and the best party crews always had kick-ass websites, but they generally made that illegal and the whole thing fucked off.
Pisses me off. Only respite I get is firing up Cubase and rattling the windows with pounding kicks and angry mangled metal twangs.I am fucking angry..Vote Obama in, then I'll calm down. And Moth - this entry may add to your 'opinion' that I am 'full of shit', but at least Im not some smarmy prick in a shoreditch bar, as you appear to be.
