Hey,
I did a quick job for a marketing firm (Simple website & logo's) but they never paid me! Have tried to call them but they don't answer the phone or respond on my emails.
Do you guys have any suggestions on how I should handle this?
They didn't even use the logo that I told them to use. Made 4 logo's and they picked the whorst one of them. : (

I think I am going to set up an advice bureau / legal representation company for small studios and creative freelancers. I am amazed how often this comes up. Simple steps to prevent it. Golden rule number one, peope who have what they want and not paid their bills run faster than people who have handed over their work and not been paid for it.
From this point on, Studiospooky is available to draw up contracts and represent the little people in all their day to day engagements with other businesses. My fee is a very modest 15% of your invoiced fees (basic, additional charges may apply) and you will recoup my costs from your client without any problems anyway.

if you put up the site you can take it down. leave a note on there. "this is what happends when you dont pay. as soon the payment has arrive, your site will be back up agian." something like that.

Jnr, I charge my own clients 15% for late payment. They always pay late, and they always pay the 15%. Never let me down, never been quibbled... except one time by a prominent ad agency who fought hard to avoid paying it. They paid it though.
Simpe, generic upfront agreement signed before you start
20% advance for new all clients
All details on contract
40 days to pay, 1 month courtesy with constant yammering reminders daily, then hit them hardwith the paper trail that they agreed to.
15% surcharge. In the bag, their fault, no arguements.I am seriously thinking I might set up an representation agency.
