How abouts you give her some Okkervil River (black sheep boy) or Sufjan Stevens (illinois) - think Bright Eyes, only better. I'm not going to get all high & mighty.. but you should get the albums off of the artists websites and maybe not download it for free.

It's really not THAT bad, yes, he's very "emo" and dramatic, but lyrically he's quite good. I will say this, at risk of judgement, but the "lifted" album is very well done.
Nothing I'd listen to now, but six years ago.. It was quite good.

Calles, Get her Liam Frost's debut albuma s well. Generally considered to be 'the thinking person's Bright Eyes' and a really great album in its own right anyway. Less mawkish and emocharged than Bright Eyes, more mature.
(Aside from the fact I did the artwork it really is a great album and he really is considered to be the UK's own Bright Eyes)
