If IE 6?

I am using a repeating PNG w/alpha file in my wrapper div as background and I'm using the PNG fix found here http://www.twinhelix.com/css/iep…. However it doesn't fix repeating background images. So I want to use a repeating gif if it is IE6. How exactly do I write the condition for IE 6?
Would it be:
<!--[if IE 6]>
<style type="text/css">
<!-- #wrapper { background: url(replacementgif.gif); } -->
</style>
<![endif]-->

<!--[if IE 6]>
<style type="text/css">
<!-- Kill yourself -->
</style>
<![endif]-->

unfortunately that IE fix doesn't work for repeating background images. why would you need to use that condition if you're simply using a gif? just use CSS.

I know the fix doesn't work for repeating images, hence: the condition.

creative-, just tried your code but it doesn't work. Are you sure it's not:
<!--[if IE 6]>
<style type="text/css">
<!-- go fuck yourself -->
</style>
<![endif]-->

don't use the condition. just use the CSS.
#wrapper {background: url(replacementgif.gif);}

elektromuzak, I want the default to be the transparent PNG file since it works in most current browsers and looks better for what I'm trying to accomplish. Just worried about IE6 users.

although there's a more recent IE fix:
<!--[if Incompetent Developer]>
<style type="douchebag">
<!-- eat a dick -->
</style>
<![endlife]-->

sorry, just had to jump on the bandwagon.

ok, put this in your head tags:
<!--[if gte IE 6]>
<link rel="stylesheet" href="iestyle.css" type="text/css" media="screen" />
<![endif]-->then in your iestyle.css, put:
#wrapper {background: url(replacementgif.gif);}
- mikeim0
may i ask, what does the gte stand for?
- doctor0
mikeim:
Your conditional tag should work out fine for IE6.
- elektromuzak0
gte stands for "greater than or equal to" operator. so that conditional comment is saying, if this version of internet explorer is greater than or equal to version 6, do blah blah blah.
- elektromuzak0
if you have a bunch of css you only want to show up ie 6, you can simply add it to the iestyle.css. if it's just the gif background you're worried about, your original condition also should work fine.
- elektromuzak0
if the <!--[if gte IE 6]> doesn't work for some reason, try <!--[if IE 6]> instead.

thanks for the help guys. sounds like I should use 'lte' rather than 'gte', no? since IE7 does support transparent pngs.
p.s. i'll remember to be a sarcastic asshole before asking another question in the future so i get help quicker.
- elektromuzak0
you're right mikeim, I forgot that IE7 does support alpha transparent pngs since i hate IE and rarely ever use it.
