The FontStructor font editor lets you easily create fonts, then generates high-quality TrueType fonts, ready for use. And share.

Very nice!

Looks really easy in use. I wish there was something similar for regular (not modular) fonts!

Seems like a cool idea, must check it out in detail!

half way down the page; app called Horus.

Glad you found us so quickly! We tried to launch quietly for now as we're still tinkering under the hood. But please give 'er a spin and let me know what you think.

sweet, very cool app

been playing with it a bit and just love it. very easy to use, intuitive and just works perfect.

its all just modular typefaces though...

- Don't bother with drgs. All he does is piss and moan about things,********
- drgs just got a ZING courtesy of Typographica.mg33

Incredible.

That is seriously awesome. A few months ago I was working on some artwork that totally needed a nice modular font with letters that could align vertically. This is going to rule, can't wait to try it out.

hah! this is incredible
- slappy0
Brilliant!

I don't think drgs is a fool. He asks relevant questions, no matter how uncomfortable they seem. Fools are those who pack without even questioning.
His doubt was valid, such as Typographica response. He asked about lemons, and got a reply about oranges.

drgs should ask for his money back.

closest answer i've found:
The conditions for a modular typeface should be:
1) the modules are separate
2) there is a limited number of modulesIn particular, there should be no joining strokes of irregular length between modules.
- never perused myself what "modular" can imply, but that seems like a good starting point as typo is concerned.********

I thought modular fonts where fonts constructed from regular pieces.
ie not drawn as such, built from modular blocks lego style.
- Typographica0
Yeah, you guys got it okay. Most type is drawn or written. Modular type is made with building blocks on a uniform grid. This limits the resulting letterforms quite a bit, but also enables those without type design training to create a simple font very quickly.
And I apologize for my curt reply, drgs, but there are already great font editors available as desktop apps. The web isn't (yet) the place for applications of such complexity. The idea behind FontStruct is simplicity and sharing.

That said, we can expand the capabilities of FontStruct quite a bit with new shapes. The bricks are simply EPS files and we'll be adding new sets as the app develops.
