I trust the opinions of people on this site more than random reviews on the web most of the time so I figured this would be a good place to do some research. Thats all. I know what a lens is as well as I know what a brush is, but should I get bristle or sable? What has been your experience, what are they good for? How else would someone learn but to ask?
The only thing that offends about your statement is its not like I'm asking for someone to teach me everything about lenses, just their opinions and experiences. I just didn't see any reason for it although I might be a little snarky due to the beers I've had.
For the record, I ended up getting the Nikon 16-85 VR.

Is that something new? Nikon lacked a fast wide zoom with stabilization, that was one of the reasons I never considered going Nikon at all

Isn't that lense hard to get hold of?

what, there's 16-85 VR???
i want Nikon to make 20mm f1.4 fixed focal lens. they don't have any wide prime lens under 35mm that's worth buying for DSLR.

Hey pr2, no problem. I was being overly sensitive, I usually just dismiss posts like that, this is the interwebs after all.
There is a 16-85 VR that I think is relatively new but I'll believe it when it gets shipped.
