I think this subject needs to be put to bed though.
The argument is that there is too much hype around Rooney... to be honest I don't see it, all I see are commentators on the verge of orgasm every time Ronaldo does anything. There is occasional talk about Rooney, but why not, he's got dem skillz bro! What amazes me is that People seem to be forgetting Torres nipping at his heels. (And Torres would be nowt without Gerrards great passes and awareness)
Rooney has scored 15 this season, and I'd love to know how many assists he has. The two players compliment each other, you get rid of Rooney it all goes to pot. Thats been proven this season already. Ronaldo can't get the amount of goals he is getting without Rooney, fact! A strikers role is not just to score goals, but to provide goals. If a striker isn't scoring but he is setting up an amazing amount of goals, then only a moron would get rid of him! And as much as I hate to say it, Fergie (not using sir) is not a moron..... he's just a drunk.

i'd always prefer Rooney to be setting up goals than scoring them, as any of our forwards can put the ball in the back of the net, and thats whats happening, so why change a good system.
if you think back to the van nistelrooy days, see how many he banged in, and what did we win? feck all!
so you dont need a striker that gets 30 a season, but a right winger that does helps :)

I think these guys just play very good together.
Rooney is not very good on the england squad and ronaldo hasn't done much for Portugal. Not to say they are not great, im just saying the level of their success is credited on their team chemistry.

Rooney is an above average player and would be showing a lot more "greatness" if Ronaldo wasn't there. Ronaldo has just become something amazing the last two seasons, really exciting to watch. If he's not scoring the goals he's setting them up.

Ronaldo is a great player and Rooney might be an almost great player... But football is a team effort, and if you put them alone in the field against the other team they wouldn´t stand a chance...
The hype about Rooney is well justified... He is a chav... and england is a chav country... so people relate... Ronaldo is the high achiever immigrant that everyone loves to hate...
Anyway I'm talking more about the media hype than their skills...
Because I think if Ronaldo goes to the market now, he would be chaced by almost every club in the world... while Rooney probably wouldn't... I guess it's hard on the English people to have invented a sport and suck at it... and I'm not even going to talk about cricket....
