If you still have the reproductive organs, doesn't that preclude you, scientifically, from being called the opposite sex?

"Pregnant man" who gave birth to a daughter is expecting a second child
Thomas Beatie is a married man who used to be a woman
He had a mastectomy but kept his female reproductive organs
Next Article in Health ยป(CNN) -- The "pregnant man" who gave birth to a daughter earlier this year says he is expecting a second child.
Thomas Beatie, a married man who used to be a woman, has told America's ABC News that after giving birth to Susan on June 29 he did not go back on the male hormone testosterone so he could have another baby.
"I feel good," he told ABC News' Barbara Walters. "I had my checkups ... And everything is right on track."
Beatie, who lives with his wife Nancy in Bend, Oregon, said the baby is due on June 12.
Beatie was born a woman but underwent hormone therapy before he was legally declared a man.
He had a mastectomy but kept his female reproductive organs when he underwent a sex change in the late 1990s.
He and Nancy decided they wanted to start a family and he underwent artificial insemination late last year.
Walters said on her television talkshow, "The View," that Beatie had revealed his second pregnancy to her during an interview for a documentary to air on U.S. television Friday night.
Beatie spoke to Walters about Susan's birth, which was not via Caesarean section.
Prior to her birth, he released a photo showing his bearded face and pregnant belly. It sparked a worldwide media frenzy. E-mail to a friend | Mixx it | Share

again, if you have a vagina, you can't qualify as a man

oh my..

I have no idea what happens.

Well damn. I'm still hoping for a hermaphrodite.
Does that mean his/her "beard" is going to fall out?
- Jaline0
No, I read somewhere that she/he stopped taking hormones around 8 months ago (or something similar). I thought that too but did some more research.

I bet the kid is going to be fucked up - s/he is taking testosterone to "be a man" and I'm thinking that's going to fuck with the natural hormonal surges that a woman experiences during pregnancy.
How awesome would it be if the kid came out a hermaphrodite. Man, that would be the perfect 21st century family.

Did you guys hear any of those dumb bitches on the streets (just random women being interviewed by news stations) who keep saying, "I'm hoping that it's going to become a trend. I'm hoping that it catches on with men around the world."
STFU.
And in one interview, he/she claims that he is a man but didn't change his reproductive organs because he/she wants to have babies. I realize things can change, but one of the main aspects of being a woman is that you can have children. Basically this person wants to be half-man, half-woman. Just say that!

His/her wife couldn't have a child. I agree about the sensationalization, although....think about it. This person is a target anywhere he/she goes. Pretty sure the media would've found out themselves. But yes, the couple is bringing it upon themselves.

fair enough, if you are a woman and you feel like you have too much testosterone, and you want a sex change... then do it. I have no issues with people doing what they want. The whole sensationalising of the situation is ridiculous though.
Why couldn't his/her wife have a child? Have i missed something? Surely it would have been easier to have his/her wife artificially inseminated therefore they must only be doing this to be famous. Having a child to be famous?? Totally unethical. It's ridiculous. It makes me sick.
