We have been approached to come up with some ideas for a new school / learning centre. They have a mantra of 'money no object' and want the space to be truly inspirational and cutting edge....
Has anyone seen any good projects lately (the stuff at the new terminal at Heathrow is a good starting point)????
Anything considered at this stage, holographs, touch screens, projections etc

check out the work of Nikolai Cornell, he's in London now, but from the US. He's been doing a lot of auto industry interactivity, but very well rounded.

Yeah thats exactly what Im talking about, those interactive mirrors are really nice! Be brilliant if we could do something 3 dimensional, like a 3d dimensional holograph, something really sci fi!

Maybe you could get the holo cube guys to build you a giant one.

those waterfall projection screens are pretty nice

Might be an idea to just use huge plasmas (touchscreen) and use an interface similar to minority report/the Apple iPhone for the users to move the content around etc. Anybody know of any examples of this kind of thing being used to good effect?

just out of curiosity, how major of a component to the project is this?

And what are you using this technology for? content wise?

Its basically the whole project, the reception is dull and boring in comparison to the rest of the space. The college is split into different departments and it would be nice to use touch screens to display games/content in relation to these departments. The principle also loved the idea of having an interactive avatar of himself in the foyer (either on a large screen or 3d holograph)
Basically its one of the most expensive built schools/colleges in europe and the reception needs to also be of the same quality/standard and really knock peoples socks off!

waterfall - check this. would make a nice reception feature. not sure of the cost.
