Who needs laptops and cameras as an insentive to knock one out? Illustrators do it for love. I've already knocked mine out... anyone else having a bash?

thanks for opening the new thread..
and you mentioned your drawing but didn't post your image.- he thinks its shit
i call him ralph mont blanc... pronounced (raif)734 - the character i mean,,, i call tim, tim. but its not really up to me i suppose734
- I don't think its shit, I'm utterly indifferent to it. I just need to get off digital illustration this year...Spookytim
- ... so need to keep generating stuff until I find my new style.Spookytim
- what is his name? do you plan to do more with this character?734
- No, I don't think so. He really is too Tim Burtonesque to develop and use.Spookytim
- he thinks its shit

this is going to be the best damn illustrate it EVER!

i for one have always felt that tim burton was incredibly creative, however his execution can tend to be hit or miss. regardless, how insane would it be to be instantly recognized for your illustrative style like he is? (and a few other artists for that matter) and to have people say wow that looks like a tim burtonesque style... or i was going for a darker kinda twisted persepctive a la tim burton... admirable
sorry back to your drawings... as you were
- Spookytim0
Its really only that character that looks Tim Burtonesque though... at least I hope it is. I didn't even see it myself as I'm not a big TB fan, but Rachel, my partner said it first, then Alla and a couple of others here. When I looked on Boogle I saw the similarity. Truth is I used to use this sort of character many years ago as a kind of studiospooky mascot...
and I much prefer this little guy I did once becuase he's more like a 30's era cartoon charcater...
So I'll probably go back to using him if I do a character-based illustration again. But aside from all that, the style I'm working on hopefully stops looking like Tim Burton work when there isn't a character there eat all...
So shut my fuck up.
- never noticed the little grey guy in that pic before... its a cool character... and i dig the spooky with the drop light734
- neverblink0
just because it's great...
- Wow, a seven year old boy smoking. Must have been a bitch to get it past the sensors!Spookytim

whats that BBC thing? (maybe not BBC)
instantly watching this movie start reminded me of it...
lots of black and white highly stylized characters... walking around a graveyard... something to do with mysteries? cant think of a better description... i suck
- Spookytim0
Folly Foot Farm?
That's Life, with Esther Rantzen?
Give us some more clues 734, its hard becuase we have four TV channels in the uk so you can imagine there's a lot of TV shows to choose from.

I do sometimes sell stuff when I'm in the mood, but only on occasion when I get some free time away from commercial work.

A beautiful piece as usual Complexfruit. Love the way you apply colour. I am absolutely hopeless at wet colour but you make me want to try water colour for the millionth time in the vain hope that next time I might actually be in control.
Aside from that, your piece also reminded me of a thing I was doodling in a Moleskine that I then decided to redraw large for Illustrate It: Saucy. I just dug it out and took a shot. Its not very similar I guess, but still, some similarities echo between the two...
- your attention to detail is excruciating... i bet if you had the time you tile every bit of that ceiling7point34
- i've always hated people like you :)7point34
- Totally. Its all about the detail with me. That's why it sucks to be me commercially.Spookytim
- and we can see qbn in the background on the left, haha... its a screenshot of this very thread.... eerie7point34
- Very nice Spooky. Thanks for the kind words, these "Illustrate It" threads have been an inspiration for me. You should go for the millionth and one time and give water colors another go.Complexfruit
