seagate freeagent pro mac boot?

anyone have a seagate freeagent pro and has been able to format it for mac and boot macosx via firewire? need to know... thnx

interesting you should say that, i had 6 lacie drives fail in < 6 months
in a seagate enclosure, seagate makes the drives, in a lacie enclosure, it could be any of a number of different manufacturers drives, since lacie only makes the enclosures, not the disks themselves

more on topic, i know booting from a firewire disk used to be hit or miss with some older drives due to the controller chip, but i'd imagine a freeagent pro is new enough that it wouldn't be an issue. just a guess though.

I ended up returning the freeagent drive that i bought....
It said it was both firewire and usb, little did i know that you had to manually replace a faceplate that was either usb or firewire.... not both.. I dont think i even got it working on a mac.
I ended up buying a barracuda and sticking into a inexpensive external enclosure... so far so good
