Hey as I'm a Mac User from the first computer I had. I really don't know much about windows but sometimes I have to use it (whaaa).
Especially when testing websites. Since Microsoft made it possible that some sites look fine in IE6 but not in IE7 I would need both browser in Win XP. Is there a possibility to have both browsers. I downloaded IE7 and it now upgraded my IE6 so its gone.Any ideas?

sites should never look fine in IE6 and not IE7
get a comp with IE6 to check to make sure, but i would design for firefox and periodically check IE7 to make sure you're on the same page
- IE7 has a boatload of problems but with a DTD its usually easy to work around or hack as opposed to the stain that is IE6734

also you could try this... you have to wait while they render the screenshoots but may be at least a little helpful

Before you design for FF, bear in mind that IE 6/7 still hold more than 50% browser share for most sites.
W3c global stats:
http://www.w3schools.com/browser…- oh i know... i check ff and IE7 equally... and occaisionally check IE6 and cry734
- That's why I still design to HTML 1.0 specs.flashbender

Thanks I downloaded it. Well as most people use IE, the site has to mainly work in ie right.
- well, it needs to work in everything and that's the tricky part.flashbender
- becasue ie 6/7 handle things differently and do not adhere to all web standards.flashbender

you can also go the route of a vpc and ie6 image -
download vitrual pc 2004 (free from ms)

(i just know that url is gonna get mangled...)install the IE6 vpc testing image

Even though most of my clients and the market use IE 7/6, I still code HTML/CSS for Safari and Firefox first. Then I go back and correct any errors in IE 7/6/5, and I've found more often that IE7 will require minor tweaking, but 6 and 5 are a pain in the ass.
Consider using Conditional Comments for IE stylesheets.

just beware as those multiple ie's dont hold sessions, (ie7 does still however).
