I'm in a bit of a pita.
I cannot export my FLA to a MOV using the export option in Flash (it crashes everytime, even on other computers). I can successfully export to a SWF.
I'm wondering if anyone knows a program (for OS X not Windows) that will let me convert from a SWF to a MOV or an FLA.
Please help, my hair has is already two shades grayer from today.
Thanks,
Greg

If you're using any actionscript it won't work. You can only export simple timeline animations to quicktime If I remember correctly.
- There is no actionscript in my movie.chompchomp
- just fyi....you used to be able to import swfs with as animations into generator and export as movs.....but i think i just dated myself.linearch
- myself......old man river.linearch
- as of CS4, you can export actionscript animations too. I tried it, it works!nuggler

Does anyone use MPEG-2 for video on the web?
Our CMS developers want us to upload only MPEG-2 to be converted to play in a Flash video player... but I'm wondering why they chose MPEG-2 not MP4??- I usually stick to Mp4chompchomp
- it sucks to recompress mpeg2.. .mov h264 is the best for small file sizes/decent quality...anayafx
- but honestly.. use either motion jpeg A 100% or Animation 100%.. or full uncompressedanayafx

I mean QTPro wont even recognise MPEG-2 unless you buy an extra decoder?!

I tried Visual Hub for the SWF to MOV conversion... no luck.
- was there an error message, or is it not even an option?ribit

Is this a lost cause?

You could import your .swf to After Effects or Premiere then re export as an .mov.

I just tried importing the SWF to After Effects, no dice.
I don't have Premiere. I'm going to try Final Cut and post my results.

No luck with Final Cut.
My hair has gone from 2 to 3 (in terms of gray) at this point.
- Have you tried with another file, as a check for this file being somehow corrupt?ribit

I just use iShowU to capture the screen while the swf is playing.
- This sounds interesting. I'm going to give it a try.chompchomp

mpeg 2 is for dvds

I fucked myself with this the other day.
Download SnapX and screen-capture the swf through it, export it as a MPG, edit down with FCP/AE - voila!

I've exported many .mov from flash and never had a problem. Is it not in your export options at all?

Hello, I use iWisoft swf to mov converter, it's simple and good.

i don't have a mac, but from what i can tell you might try handbrake w/ perian installed

Perian is a free, open source QuickTime component that adds native support for many popular video formats.
Quote:
* File formats: AVI, DIVX, FLV, MKV, GVI, VP6, and VFW
* Video types: MS-MPEG4 v1 & v2, DivX, 3ivx, H.264, Sorenson H.263, FLV/Sorenson Spark, FSV1, VP6, H263i, VP3, HuffYUV, FFVHuff, MPEG1 & MPEG2 Video, Fraps, Snow, NuppelVideo, Techsmith Screen Capture, DosBox Capture
* Audio types: Windows Media Audio v1 & v2, Flash ADPCM, Xiph Vorbis (in Matroska), and MPEG Layer I & II Audio, True Audio, DTS Coherent Acoustics, Nellymoser ASAO
* AVI support for: AAC, AC3 Audio, H.264, MPEG4, and VBR MP3
* Subtitle support for SSA/ASS and SRTit could be that you've created a nonstandard/b0rked .swf but it's likely just typical flash fussiness(under windows, flash conversions are tricky sometimes as well).
good luck

Get a trial of Snaps Pro and do a screen capture. It works quite well and you end up with a movie which perfectly matches the swf.
Worth a try anyway.

well, here is a good tool which can do a good job on this. Pavtube Video Converter can between almost all the video formats, and of course, it can convert swf to mov or fla in high quality can fast speed.
