i don't have a mac, but from what i can tell you might try handbrake w/ perian installed

* Subtitle support for SSA/ASS and SRTit could be that you've created a nonstandard/b0rked .swf but it's likely just typical flash fussiness(under windows, flash conversions are tricky sometimes as well).
