just learned that you can boost the quality on some youtube videos by adding &fmt=18 at the end of the link. If the vid has a hi-res version the this little code will display the hi-res, if not it plays the regular one.
watch this movie and then watch it again with the
&fmt=18 at the end

nice way to get people to watch yer pish twice.

I played both videos at once, freaky echo chamber effect...

I worked the Consumer Electronics Show this past January in Las Vegas, for Panasonic. They have partnered with YouTube to display Hi-Res YouTube videos directly to Internet enabled, HD TV's starting this fall. I didn't understand how this was going to work initially because those videos typically look like crap. It will be a selection of videos that are available in Hi-Res, not necessarily ALL videos... much like the iPhone/iTouch now.

Wow. That's ace.

nice.

H264 maybe?
- ghandolf0
Yeah, maybe. I asked but they threatened to kill me. I would think just to keep things simple, (for iTouch & HD TV's) that it would all be H264.
The internet HD TV's aren't quite here in the states yet. They are apparently nearly available in Japan. Their new thin plasma is 24.7mm at it's thickest point. That's less than an inch thick!

Very nice factoid.

what i wonder is did you try all the keys in many combinations to see if that function existed, or were you told by someone...somewhere...

Worked for me. Nice.

For those who don't get it, while you're watching a video in youtube, paste &fmt=18 at the end of the url in the adress bar of your browser and load that page. It's like night and day.
