Congrats Kerus. Now get that list out and write at the top... actually just below "buy pencils" put "build WEBSITE"
;)

save 40% of what you make because your going to have to give it to our sorry ass government

Kerus, how you finding not having a website affecting you?
Also do you find you're always on the poach, at say a social gathering constantly plugging yourself? I found it tedious, especially when you land one of these 'clients' and they expect better rates.

Have been freelancing for nearly a year, and I gotta say it is nice to work in a state with no income tax!!!
Work is crazy busy, I just had another two jobs land in my inbox unsolicited.
- SigDesign0
just started the freelance thing... so does anyone do any cold calling, or do you simply network to find the jobs?
- doesnotexist0
i rarely have to network really, usually the work gets more work.
- kerus0
i usually just throw some feelers out, email some old friends..
"heads up, looking to take on new projects"..cold calls make my bowels gurgle
- SigDesign0
great cause I do not want to be a sales man
- kerus0
friends of friends will give you the warmest receptions.
usually the ice is already somewhat broken too
- SigDesign0
Where are all you freelancers located?
- mimeartist0
I'm 5 months in, and only just getting my weekends back... glad i did it though!

started in phoenix, now in chicago. Most my clients still work with me. A perk I didn't anticipate. Relocate without having any work problems.

turbo tax is pretty good if you do it yourself. as long as you save receipts or have some sort of record you did something for the biz, you should be ok to write it off.
- dtan0
when did you start freelancing?
- brains0
I spend all my fucking time pitching and waiting. Slow town.
- doesnotexist0
same here, busy as all hell. it's been a year and 2 weeks!
